What is Virtualization?
Virtualization is similar to the "nesting dolls"
we all remember. You know, the wooden doll that opens up to reveal another doll that fits perfectly inside the first. Each doll contains another perfect nesting doll within. Each doll could stand individually on its own. Virtual Machines are similar because each workstation or server is its own machine that can stand and function on its own even though each machine is nestled within a "host" server. Improve the efficiency and availability of IT resources and applications through virtualization
How will Virtualization help my business?
* virtual machines eliminate the need to purchase costly hardware
* server consolidation - one server can 'host" many virtual machines
* run multiple virtual machines on a single physical machine
* Green Computing
* reduce power and cooling expenses
* a virtual machine can be more easily controlled and inspected from outside than a physical one
* a virtual machine's configuration is more flexible
* don't worry about hardware failures because the entire virtual machine is stored on the host server
* quickly restore workstations and servers with very little downtime for your business
How does Virtualization work?
VMWare and Hyper V are the software programs that makes virtualization run on your server or workstation or server.
